San Marino, renowned as an oldest European state, shares border with the Italian regions of Marche and Emilia-Romagna. When compared with Monaco and the Vatican, San Marino is the third smallest country in Europe. The history of San Marino dated from 301 AD. Only component of San Marino was Mount Titano, the highest elevation of the country, later in the 14th century, the Pope allotted to it the towns of Montegiardino, Fiorentino and Serravalle.
